Little Girl and Her Wolf

~This short story is mine, so please do not copy my writings. Thank you.

There once was a little girl who was afraid of almost everything. She was terrified of the dark, monsters under the bed, bugs that stung, even her own shadow.

One day her family decided to go on a camping trip. When they got there, the little girl was scared to get out of the car because of all the bees and icky critters.

Her sister said, "there's nothing to be afraid of." Her brother replied with a smile, "come on; nothing is going to hurt you." Her father said with a happy face, "I'm going go set up camp." Her mother said calmly, "Sweetheart, even if you do run into trouble, you got to remember that monsters aren't real, animals are more afraid of you than you are of them, and nothing in the dark can harm you. Okay?"

Almost all day the little girl sat at the picnic table. She didn't play with her siblings in the lake, nor did she contribute in the family cook-out.

However, later that day, the little girl heard strange sounds. Something inside of her felt the urge to go and help. So she did. She snuck away to see what was happening.

It sounded like someone or something was in trouble. Sure enough, beyond the mossy oak trees laid a humongous wolf laying on the forest floor barely breathing.

The little girl didn't feel scared, she actually felt bad. She realized that this creature had several thorns stuck into its body. So she ran back to grab the first aid kit.

The little girl came back and carefully pulled out each thorn, followed by doctoring the wounds. The wolf didn't even flinch.

In some strange way, the little girl wasn't frightened. She felt content and happy, and so she decided to stay with the wolf for the remainder of the day.

Morning came and she realized that the wolf was gone. Her family were up and ready to go home. The little girl wondered if it was all a dream, but deep inside her soul she knew it wasn't.

Back at the house the little girl wasn't as scared as before. Her fears vanished, her nightmares were gone. The monsters under the bed turned into dust bunnies, and the insects that stung, didn't bother the little girl.

She started making friends and being not so afraid of everything. As years went by, the little girl realized the wolf who she had helped was herself, and all the thorns that she removed was the fears she had.

Every so often the little girl would see the giant wolf. Sometimes it would be at school during difficult tests. Sometimes it would be at home when her parents would verbally fight with each other.

When the little girl felt scared, the same wolf would appear, and she knew she was protected. She knew that this creature was a part of her and never left her side.

She just had to find the courage to vanquish her fears.
