Places in San Antonio I Really Want To Go Back & Experience Again Pt. 1
π²Alamo Cenotaph Monument
Story: Almost all my life my grandmother would talk about our great ancestor who was one of the Alamo defenders. His name was Ambrosio Rodriguez, and as my grandma put it, "he was a cluts." What she was saying Ambrosio was accident prone. He would trip over his boots, bump into people, drop and break things. She would also mention that even though this ancestor of ours didn't perish at the Alamo, the Rodriguez energies still lingers up and down that staircase. At that moment of my life I thought my grandmother was full of herself but in fact she wasn't. When I was 9 years old my 4th grade class took a field trip to the Alamo. Once we got there we were given a tour. Inside the place, my class got close to a stairway that was closed off. Even though you couldn't go pass the velvet ropes, I could still feel a strong familiar presence. My grandmother was right about it all. Never doubt your elders, that's for sure. Even though Ambrosio didn't die at this location, I still want to pay my respects to him and all the defenders who did serve and protect the Alamo.
π²River Center Mall
Since the cenotaph is right there, why not check out RiverCenter? I really do miss the malls, not for shopping but mainly for the sight-seeing. My auntie Glenda calls it "Diddy-boppin". Basically what this word means is looking and walking around while having fun. Also, this was the same place I tried sushi for the first time and LOVED IT!! This is also the location I saw my first IMAX theater movie too. Yes, the film wasn't grand or glorious, but it was educational. Maybe before it gets too hot here in SA, my mother and I can go over; do some mother, daughter Diddy-bobbin together. Yay! ππ
π²Central Library
It feels like it's been an eternity(for me) since I've been to this place. I know a year and a few months isn't a long time to some, but to an excessive reader like myself, it's pure torture to go this long! Yes, I'm a bibliophile. I love reading books, learning from them, being inspired to write my own material. Plus, The Big Enchilada, aka, the Central Library, is literally the biggest library in all of SA. It has so much to offer. Talk about your limitless amount of literature, learning and infinite portals to other realms.π
π²San Antonio Market Square
Who doesn't like the sqaure? I absolutely adore this place!π It has culture, fashion, music, food, art and so much more. I really do miss this place. I haven't been there in about 17 years. There are a couple of reasons for my lack of being present at this location; the main reason is due to my father. One of my many memories of the Square was when I was 14 years old, and as usual my dad was being a complete jacka**. Paul has always despised the LGBTQ+ community and any soul who stands with them. It was the first time I ever witnessed my father being a homophobic jerk to such a beautiful woman. I remember out of all the kiosks there, hers was the most unusual. She had these gorgeous, handmade hair accessories and other trinkets that were just out this world! So COOL!! π I also remember talking to her for the longest time. She introduced herself as Miss. Shanique the Bling Queen. We talked A LOT, about 30 minutes worth. She was an absolute kind-hearted soul. I also loved her fashion style! π When my father saw her about to hug me, he rudely interrupted our conversation with words that were quite horrific and should never been said to any soul. He also made a spectical of himself later that day that got him and Barb kicked out the restaurant as well. Whenever mom and I do go back to the Square, i would really like to apologize to Shanique for the disgusting words my dad said to her all those years ago. I'm hoping and praying she still works there in that same little kiosk center. It would be very nice to meet her again. I would really love to introduce her to my mother. I think they both would be great friends. π
