My Grandmothers Stories - Pt. 1

Cecelia Y. Rodriguez Algueseva  ❤The Heart and Soul of Our Familia❤ My abuela was one of a kind. Her love was eternal and everlasting. Her smile could brighten up even the most darkest of clouds. Her voice was unmistakable. She could feed an entire army and still crank out more food. She was a never-ceasing whirlwind of kindness. She was 67 when she departed from this realm but the many memories of her still remain. One of my most fondest memories of when my grandmother talked about her tales. The ones I'm about to share all teach a moral life lesson, or an afterlife lesson😉 The names of the characters are different, but the story's are still mostly the same. Hope everyone enjoys.       The Boy Who Ate the Food of the Dead       ***Illustration above is NOT mine*** ~Once there was a boy named Robert. He lived a life that every young man dreamed of. 🔲Jacala Mexican Restaurant  Established in 1949, Jacala is the oldest, originally owned Mexican Restaurant here in San Antonio. Just by walking inside you can sense all its culture, beauty and the love the owners put in to this breathtaking place. Every Sunday, my Nana, my Aunt, my Mother, Sister and myself would dine at Jacala after church. I grew up ordering the rice and beans a la cart with a little spoon. This was also the place that I found that i loved salsa. Kind of a long story. I'm real picky when it comes certain condiments, but Jacalas texas renowned red Salsa is the best. Of course that's just my opinion. My Nanas and Mothers favorite platter is #11. I later, once I got a little older and my tastebuds matured, I also enjoyed the platter. Number eleven is the two enchiladas with beans and rice. They give you good portions too. Jacala is great on price and family friendly. They also have a bar and outdoor seating. This place (for me) brings back so many n...

🔲 Traders Village San Antonio  It's been a LONG time since I been here. This place has it all! It is a must see and experience kind of place. From the food, the fun and the wide range of vendors, its definitely worth the $5 dollar parking. That's a steal of a deal right there. Here is the website link for Traders Village SA. http://www.tradersvillage.com/san-antonio/ Such an AWESOME PLACE!! 😁 🔲 Texas Thrift Store I absolutely love this thrift store. In my opinion it's the best one! Lots and LOTS of selection at the Ingram location. I'm going to be honest here, their bathrooms are not always clean but their inventory is neatly organized. I adore their book section. So cool!!🤩 This is also a great place to donate items that you no longer want or need. My mother and I have donated to this place several times. 🔲 McNay Art Museum I would take great joy seeing this place again. It would be an inspirational and magical experience. The last time I was here was when I was fourteen. It was during the winter time. It was one of those father/daughter family visits🙄. I especially adore their art sculptures, including the gift shop!🤩 Some of them were absolutely breathtaking! I for one like visiting during the McNays free days. I believe they were originally on Tuesdays but they changed it to Thursdays and Sundays at specific hours. If your not from SA and your an art enthusiast, like myself, this place is a must see. For more information, check out their website. Here's the Link: https://www.mcnayart.org/ 🔲 San Antonio Botanical Gardens I have both good and bad memories of this place. I cant put a percentage on which out-weighs the other, but what I can say is that this place has always inspired me. Not just in my artworks but also in my spirituality. Getting back to ...
